T Face Barbute

The Barbuta is a member of the Bascinet family. Originated in Italy where the early types appeared as soon as the early 14th century it soon spread all over Europe. This Milanese helmet is a copy of the helmet adorning the "Avant" harness at the Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow. Hand beaten in two halves from 14 gauge (2mm) steel then welded and given a satin finish. An authentic leather liner is riveted into the helmet and a leather strap and period buckel fitted. It is constructed from 2mm (14 gauge) steel and has an adjustable, spider style, leather liner and chinstrap.
